My iPod may need new FM trasmitter, but it still sounds better than the audio on these YouTube videos. I am a fan of the band Clinic and the ballet "Radio and Juliet."

Tonight I was struggling with my iPod’s typically reliable FM transmitter. (It may be tired and ready for retirement. I welcome recommendations for a replacement.) I was eventually able to enjoy my mix, especially Liverpool band Clinic. Though thoroughly weird, they may have been my favorite band in 2003. I’ve always wanted to see them live, or what one can see with their signature surgical masks.

In October my brother and I saw the Ballet Maribor’s “Radio and Juliet.” We loved it, but because the costumes and props were minimal they chose to wear surgical masks for the masquerade scene. This distracted from the already loose narrative both because of the implied sterility and because Clinic toured with Radiohead in 2000. Slovenians don’t read as much into these things.

To be honest, I didn’t take in much of the performance apart from Juliet. Or her legs, to be precise. Color me a fan.

Bonus commentary on the audience: I failed to spot anyone else rockin’ and bobbin’ to the music. Seriously. It is rock and roll.

Nevertheless, it was very well received. After, there was a Q&A with the troupe. Someone made a point to insist they bring their future projects through Pittsburgh. Word.
